Light Up for Smiddy. Tribute to Race Around Ireland Cyclist Ciaran Smith from Rescue 116. PUT on and TURN on a rear tail light in memory of Smiddy this weekend

Please take a minute to read this post from Cathal Oakes via Clare Crusaders Cycling Club. about a friend of his and a legend of a cyclist.

Light up, light up for Smiddy!

Folks,
On saturday in Dublin a memorial service will be held for Ciaran Smith our colleague in Rescue 116 who passed away in March. It will be another very very sad day for all of us at IRCG.

Some of you will know that Smiddy was a serious cyclist who competed in the Race around Ireland (2200km) on 3 occassions and in 2015 finished 6th overall… a fantastic achievement!

The cycling buffs may also know that team Trek Segafredo competed this week in the Giro D’Italia with tail lights on their bikes to highlight road safety.

I made contact with Smiddy’s family and as a way of celebrating Smiddy’s life it has been suggested that this weekend all those in races, sportives or out for a spin,
PUT on and TURN on a rear tail light in memory of Smiddy, and all those who have been lost recently out doing what they love.

Please like and share as it seems like a nice way to honour and remember Ciaran.

Thanks,
Cathal Oakes
