Over The Hill Cycling Club Notes 16th December 2019

Preparations for the annual spinathon which will takes place on Saturday 21st December at Ross' Centra are being finalised. Nigel Carroll has assembled a who's who of the cycling world to turn the turbos for a very worthy cause. Be sure to drop in if passing though Watergrasshill on the day.

It was a quiet weekend on the roads due to icy conditions. Mike Horgan and Donal Scannell braved the cold to complete a 90km spin to Ardmore and back on Saturday, as soon as the roads had thawed. On the international front, Dave Revins payed a flying visit to Belgium to take in the Hotondcross in Ronse on Saturday. The days racing was riveting, with Toon Aerts bring an end to Mathieu Van Der Poel's 35 race winning streak in the mens race. Dave also paid a visit to the Koppenberg, famed as the most brutal climb of the Tour of Flanders

Club cycles will continue on Saturday and Sundays. Details will be posted on club Facebook page. New members are always welcome. On Sunday mornings at 9am, all levels of cyclists are catered for, with the group split into 3 levels. New members are very welcome to turn up and cycle provided they have a racing bike, a helmet, and are over 18.
