Over The Hill Cycling Club Notes 5th August 2018

Having recovered from thee exertions of the Malin to Mizen trip, members have hit the road in big number again this week. Donal lead a hardy group on Wednesday evening in damp conditions on a 35km loop. Deccie assumed captaincy for the Saturday morning spin. The gang headed for the the Big Tree in Aghern, before turning for Fermoy. There was an extended stop for coffee where the feats of the previous week were retold with some embellishment. The return to the village was via Bartlemy.

Sunday saw a group leave the village and head for Passage West. Everybody was keen to have a chat with Donncha Cuttriss and hear about his adventures on the recent Trans Am bike race. It was great too see Ger Tobin enjoying the spin as he works his way back to fitness. Club chairman Pat McHugh and secretary Brian Atkinson have been missing in action for the week. There are unconfirmed reports that they have both spent the week in Ballymaloe in preparation for the club barbeque in O'Mahony's next Saturday night. Huge numbers are due to attend what promises to be a fantastic night.
Wednesday evening cycles continue departing Watergrasshill at 7pm. All are welcome. Club cycles will continue on Saturday and Sundays. Details will be posted on club Facebook page. New members are always welcome. On Sunday mornings at 9am, all levels of cyclists are catered for, with the group split into 3 levels. New members are very welcome to turn up and cycle provided they have a racing bike, a helmet, and are over 18.
