Over The Hill Cycling Club Notes 20th January 2019

The past week was a busy one for club members. On  Thursday night turbo training continued. The session was led by Donal Scannell. Donal didn't earn the title of "minister for pain" by taking it easy. The session was tough but super rewarding for participants. The session also set a record as the best attended turbo training since the club was founded. It was fantastic to see new members participate. The sessions will continue in the First Fruits Arts Centre in Watergrasshill on Thursday evenings, commencing at 7.30pm. Members and non members are welcome to attend. Anyone wishing to attend simply needs to bring a turbo trainer, mat, and a towel.
Thursday night also saw a fitting night for summer cycling gear. The club gear supplier, Velo Revolution, provided sample garments for members to try for size. A  large number of orders were placed on the night. A massive thank you to Mike Horgan who does trojan working in organising the order.
The Saturday spin commenced in then village. The 80km route headed east for Cloyne and on to Ladysbridge and Castlemartyr. The Village Greengrocer provided cyclists with top class nourishment and coffee for the return leg home. The return route took in Carrigtwohill and Leamlara. Joanne McHugh led the ladies group on what was their longest spin to date.
Sunday also saw large numbers out on the road. The group was divided in two with Nigel leading the energetic bunch on two loops pf a circuit through Knockraha. Donal, led the second group to Whites Cross. Both groups convened at Grandons in Glanmire for coffee ad to compare notes.
